About the San Francisco Sheriff’s Squadron

History

Our Mission:

The San Francisco Sheriff’s Air Squadron is an independent, nonprofit volunteer aviation organization dedicated to strengthening public safety, supporting emergency disaster relief, and expanding access to aviation education.

Public Safety & Emergency Response:

We stand ready to assist civil authorities and public safety agencies through volunteer aerial services—including search and rescue, disaster response, and local emergency support. Through these efforts, we help our communities prepare for, respond to, and recover from crises.

Community & STEM Education:

Beyond emergency response, we champion the advancement of civil aviation and STEM education. By partnering with community organizations, we provide underserved youth with safe, hands-on opportunities to explore aviation careers and lifelong interests in flight.

Volunteer Readiness:

Internally, we foster a culture of volunteerism by providing our members with the continuous training and proficiency opportunities necessary to serve our community safely and effectively.
